The Kalimba, calimba, culimba thumbs or piano is a musical instrument spread throughout the African continent and that as many others also came to South America through the slave trade. Receives different names, depending on the countries and peoples: malimba, mbira (or Sanza), kisaanji, kisanji (or quissange), tyitanzi, quisanga or quizanga), sansula. This idiophone has a set of blades of different length and material, tough but flexible, such as the metal or cane. They are attached to a bridge at one end, and they have free the other, so that produce sounds to be pressed with the fingers of the free ends. According to the dimensions of the reed will vibrate more or less what is translated in different notes that can be further refined by extending or reducing its length. The dimensions of the lamellas determine the frequencies at which can vibrate, which translates into the different notes that can give.
